How it works
Step 1. You provide the STL of what you would like printed.
Why can’t you get the STL for me?
I am unable to provide the STL files for objects. Those items that I have a license to sell will be listed on my shop page (coming soon). For the most part, I’m not selling 3D printed object, I’m selling the service of 3D printing.
Where do I find STLs?
There are many places to find STLs. I’ve listed some of my favorites but this is by no way an exhaustive list.
Lots of Free Options:
More paid but higher quality:
My Mini Factory (MMF) is my personal favorite for minis. Both RPG and Wargaming you can find something to satisfy your desire.
Some of my preferred studios are:
One Page Rules
Archvillain Games
Fleshcraft Studio
Critical Crafting (Dillon Olney on MMF)
Customized Minis:
Why should I buy an STL instead of just having one of these other companies print my mini?
By owning an STL you have the ability to get it printed as many times as you’d like, in whatever material you’d like and by whomever you’d like.
Do you keep my STL?
I will retain the STL for 3 months in case of any reprint requests just to streamline the process. After 3 months I will delete the STL from my server. I keep all Customer STLs completely separate from my personal collection.
You mentioned Reprints?
Yes, Sometimes people want another copy of their mini whether they need to replace a damaged figure or just want another copy to paint. I’m happy to do an additional print. I’ll even offer a 10% discount for one additional copy of the same single mini.
Minis damaged in shipping will be replaced at no charge.
Step 2. I’ll prepare the file for printing and provide you a price quote.
How much will it cost?
I try to keep costs pretty reasonable. I want it to be accessible for people to get their minis printed.
For a single mini you can expect anywhere between $3-$5 depending on the size. Larger minis can exceed that but a typical “Medium Size” player character or NPC should fall within the range more often than not.
If you want the mini primed, I charge a small fee for time and paint ($2)
Shipping will depend on what shipping option you choose and the current shipping costs.
For those local in Cincinnati, I do offer free local meet-ups to save you on shipping.
How do you determine the cost?
Material Costs x 2
Covers the material to print and a buffer should I need to reprint for any reason.
Processing Fee
Time to clean up the supports
Washing and Curing Time and materials
Machine time
Priming ($2)
If you want your mini to be primed and ready to paint, You can select Grey or Black.
I will primed the mini with an airbrush to ensure a thin even coat of primer.
Tax
Uncle Sam always takes his cut.
Step 3. You approve the quote and pay a deposit (=>50%)
If you are okay with the cost, you approve the quote and pay at least half. Once you do so, I will begin printing.
What if I don’t like how much you are charging?
That is exactly why I give you the quote before printing. If you don’t like the cost we can end the process there.
Do you offer any bulk discounts?
I already try to keep costs as low as I can but I’m open to conversations about discounts are larger projects where I’m able to.
I’m also considering some kind of loyalty discount for customers who print use my service 5 or more times a year.
Step 4. Printing!
I’ll print your mini, clean up any supports and prime it if requested.
Depending on my work queue, I try to notify you when your project is being printed.
Smaller projects may be complete before I have a chance to notify.
Step 5. Finalize!
Once the project is complete, I’ll send you photos of you print(s). You confirm they look good, pay any remaining balance + shipping (as necessary) and your minis will be on the way to you.
For Local delivery, I’ll be in touch to arrange a meet-up at a neutral location. For safety and privacy of both parties, I don’t do direct delivery nor do I allow direct pick-up.
